An Epic Adventure

So this last Friday was meant to be a day of fantastic lagoon fun. Adam and I have been trying to go all summer. Or I have, anyway, and it never works out. We finally had a day last Friday when I could go and he could as well. We packed some yummy food, wore lagoon appropriate clothing and got very excited. But upon reaching lagoon, we found that it was closed. Apparently lagoon is only open on weekends now. Seriously? So we turned around and drove home.
On the way back, we discussed possible things we could do since we now had a full day of nothing planned. I, personally didn't care much for anything, but Adam wanted very much to go on a hike. So we went home, got hike prepared, and drove up to one of the canyons in Bountiful. Adam wanted to find a cave that he had been to a long time ago but didn't know exactly where it was or where the trail was that lead to it. So we pretty much just started hiking and hoped to get there eventually.

The trail we picked was a narrow, overgrown, tiny little path that was completely overgrown half the time. There were times when we only knew we were even on a trail because there were red tissue paper markers. We "bush-wacked" (as Adams friend, Anthony, put it) for a few hours before we decided it was getting too dark to keep going. We didn't think to take pictures until we were on the way back. It was very pretty.

We thought we might be walking into a trap set by cannibals and they were luring us away from civilization with their pretty red markers. Adam looks pretty nonchalant about it but I was frightened. We got very scratched up and I fell in the river about four times.

On the trail, we found wild raspberries that are surprisingly sweeter and less tart than normal ones. We weren't sure if they really were edible so we took some samples home to look up on google. We also took some other berries home just to find out what they were. Some blue ones turned out to be elderberries and the white ones, we're still not sure of.

When we got back home, we took pictures of our adventure wounds. Its hard to see in the pictures, but we're very injured and dirty. The overall hike ended up taking about five hours, I think.
